Get to Know Me (& More About the Book)!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as a domestic violence survivor, both of which are equally important identities that motivated me to write this book. I've been employed in the world of social work since 2014 and got away from the abuse in 2018. The irony that I was in an abusive relationship while helping others get out of theirs does not go unnoticed, and yet it exemplifies the complexity of this thing we call domestic violence or interpersonal violence. I hope that my story and view on things helps all survivors, allies, family and friends understand and empathize with an experience that is so complicated, so deeply personal and so life-changing.

Hidden in the pages of this book is a model - the REFUND model - for understanding and giving ourselves compassion for what we endured and how we survived it.
